When playing Angel Park you’ll notice our concerted efforts for water conservation, a commitment to “firm and fast” conditions and more sustainable agronomic practices.
The President of the USGA, Jim Hyler was recently quoted in the Wall Street Journal (on May 7) on this topic: “Playability should replace aesthetics as a primary consideration. Playability should include concepts of firm, fast and even brown, and allow the running game to flourish. Brown can become the new green.”
What you can expect during your round at Angel Park:
Firmer and fast fairway conditions, which will promote more roll off the tee – i.e. longer drives!
Firm conditions around the green complexes, allowing for greater shot variation around the green - you can chip, bump and run or roll a putt!
“Firm, fast courses are more fun to play than soft, overwatered ones. Drives roll out farther. And approach shots into greens can, at the player's option, scoot along the ground and bank off contours…” added Hyler.
